Travelling through the Indian countryside is like travelling through time. The way people live has not changed much for the last 2000 years. Except maybe cell phones. You can find people who cannot read and write (the literacy rate is around 70%) but they can manage communicating by SMS. If you go far from the beaten path you might be lucky enough to find an authentic, religious celebration. People will welcome you very warmly.
